Details and Dust
As we wait for the concrete to cure, we are focusing on a few details. We have ordered a new set of sliding doors and some new windows from Fleetwood Windows and Doors through A1 Glass of Modesto. We also ordered some new floor registers from Reggio Registers Co. Matt created molds of the registers so that the concrete floors could be poured around the mold, leaving a perfect opening custom made for our registers to slip into. Here is what the opening looked like when the mold was removed:
And you can see here that the register slips right into the opening left by the mold and lies flush with the floor. I think we will be getting these registers painted to match the final floor color at an auto body shop, but we won't know the final color until the floor is completed in about 4 weeks.
And, new electrical floor outlets were treated with the same procedure:
In the last few days, the Flying Turtle Cast Concrete crew also cut all the expansion joints in the poured concrete. Everything went very well.
Now we wait. The floors will cure for a few weeks and then will be polished, epoxied, and sealed. We still have dust everywhere but at least all the equipement and demolition debris is gone.
