Then, he started working a large patch of dry rot in the kitchen sub-floor. It didn't look bad at first but when all was said and done, a large chunk of flooring had to be replaced:
The next problem was that there was wiring underneath the dry rot that was severed during the repair, and wiring to the appliances that was cut when the old marble tiles were demolished. Our electrician, Tim Crook, owner of Tymco Electrical and Solar, made repairs and now we have nice, neat wiring coming up from the sub-flooring:
Other issues that came up were some leaks in the heating ductwork (seems that we are heating the crawlspace under our house!), delayed shipment of floor plug outlets, and some salvaged tiles that were accidentally thrown in the dumpster, but all was worked out by the end of the day.
The next steps will be cutting expansion joints in the concrete, moving the chandelier, and installing floor outlets in the main living areas.
